Office Nook Wishlist

Ever since we moved in to our current place I've been meaning to get myself a desk. I mean, you can work anywhere these days, thanks to wifi and laptops, but there's something about having a self contained workstation which always makes me more productive.

We have the space too - the house is a three bed so the spare room is currently home to my Sindy houses, an ancient Billy bookcase, and a neverending supply of wet washing. Seriously. All the room ever seems to be used for is drying laundry.

But that's about to change!

Next month I'm going to splurge at my interiors store of choice - IKEA - and create my own little office nook!

ikea home office wishlist

  1. MICKE Corner Workstation. (£125) I love that the back panels are magnetic so you can use them as a noticeboard.
  2. HEJSAN Magazine File. (£1.50)
  3. Roberts Revival DAB Radio in grey. I won this last week from Glasswells and it is beautiful!
  4. TJENA Storage Box. (£3) You can never have too many TJENA boxes.
  5. MICKE Drawer Unit. (£45) This will be great for storing all my paper craft stuff.

I've already got a chair, a little lamp for the desk, and some nice storage tins for paperclips and suchlike I bought from Tiger. I'll post some photos when it's all set up and ready for use. :)

  1. Nice selection. Particularly like the Roberts Radio. I work at a 1930s writing bureau. it is awesome, if I may say so myself! #HomeEtc

    1. I've wanted one of the radios for ages, so I was super pleased to win it! The bureau sounds awesome - my other half wants a big roll top desk, but I don't know how we'd even get it *in* the house! :)

  3. I love a good mooch around Ikea. In fact, I've just pencilled in a visit in a couple of weeks time :) Super ideas for a home office. I keep doing up ours and then my husband decides he's going to work from home for a few days and takes over and makes a mess of everything. I should banish him to the dining table!

    1. Hehe, sounds like mine! His thing at the moment is using the printer for photos or something and not bothering to change any of the settings back...

  4. How exciting to be getting a proper workspace. You are so right that you are much more productive sitting at a proper desk.

  7. Love that radio - what a fab competition win. Our spare room used to always be full of washing too and it was a lot of room just for a laundry. Since I've moved it to the landing I'm much better at not accumulating piles of washing - good luck :) #homeetc

    1. I really hope it will be the kick we all need to not keep turning the room into a laundry - either that, or I'll put it all in the 'man cave' instead ;)

  8. Love these ideas Jess! I've got a couple of those Roberts radios — they're lovely aren't they? Although my cream leatherette one seems to be moulting!! It's lost the 'leathery finish and it's all peeling which looks most unattractive!! I keep meaning to get some fabric and cover it!! :) Thanks so much for linking up! #HomeEtc is live from 6am tomorrow — I hope you'll be able to join us! xx

    1. They really are! I've heard that a few times though, that the leatherette starts peeling away as they get older. Fingers crossed it will be a while yet though. x

  9. I have a little desk from Ikea (love that place) but I really need to get a bigger one! I like this on. I know what you mean about having a designated workspace (writing from the dining table). #MakingHome

  11. I love Ikea; and visit at any opportunity I get, though I do try to do it without my husband in tow otherwise I feel as though I'm rushing round!
he Roberts radio is stunning, I have the exact same one but in a Union Jack design, it takes pride of place on my dresser.

  13. I love the radio. Our spare room has all the wet washing in it too! Well, it wont be long and then it will have our baby boy in it, then where am I going to dry the washing? I'd love a desk though. My whole house is taken over by kids stuff though

    1. Hehe, before Marianna was born we were using her room too - no matter how much space you have, the junk and laundry expands to fill it!

  16. I love that DAB radio, lovely and vintage looking.

We're moving in less than two weeks and there's a little nook in the master bedroom at the new house which is all for me!!!! I'm so excited because I want to have a space for blogging rather than just on my knee in front of the TV!!! Much better for my posture. We bought a bargain bureau from a local charity shop and it's been given the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint makeover. Can't wait to get it in place.

Love the corner desk you've picked out, good use of space.

Thanks for linking up with #TheWishlistLinky.

    1. That sounds so awesome! The bureau sounds lovely too - I've rejigged the bedroom as much as I could but there was just no way I was getting anything else in there.

So the spare room it is, still have to sort it out though to make some room in there! x
