This Week #16

"Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful!"

It's been a nice quiet week, recovering from the excess of Christmas. At least I did. Anthony went out Tuesday night and didn't get in until 5am the next morning! We stayed in on New Year's Eve with a takeaway, then on New Year's Day Marianna turned one. We threw her a birthday party and filled our little living room to capacity. :)

Bracken the dog
Hannah took this photo of Bracken, making her appear innocent and angelic. Don't be fooled!

☆ READING: The Career of Katherine Bush by Elinor Glyn. It was terrible.

☆ WRITING: My New Year's Resolutions.

WATCHING: Only Fools and Horses. Anthony has insisted on watching it for hours at a time on UK Gold. It's good and that, but I just don't understand his need to see the same episode three times in as many weeks.

☆ LISTENING: Telltale singing about fish and squares...

☆ WEARING: False eyelashes for the first time ever! It did take the entire little tube of glue to achieve it though.

☆ EATING: Birthday cake.

☆ MAKING: Rotas and schedules.

I took part in the Wednesday Hodgepodge linky for the first time, and salvaged some posts from an old Dreamwidth blog I had completely forgotten about. Another repost was a guide to British holidays and celebrations - expect the other posts from the series over the next few weeks.

I also launched a new competition for The Best of Jackie Annual, and drew the winner for the anti-snoring ring giveaway.

  1. What a gorgeous photo of your dog! Sounds like a lovely week!

    1. She looks lovely - as opposed to real life where she looks like a little demon! :)

  2. Replies
    1. Happy birthday to Marianna! It's a mixed blessing having a New Years birthday so I'm glad you all got to celebrate a good one.

  3. Happy Birthday Marianna! And well done on the false eyelashes, I bought some for Christmas but gave up they were so fiddly, they went in the bin with a huff!! I'd love a Jackie annual, I'm off to enter now! :-) x

    1. I very nearly did the same - I'm sure there must be some sort of trick to it, but it took me ages to get them on and stuck down properly!

  4. We love watching things like Only Fools and Horses at Christmas. Thank you for linking up with #anythinggoes over at Blogging Mummy

  5. I am not usually a fan of quotes, but that one really appeals to me, its very positive. I love the pic of your pupnas well.
Thanks for sharing with us, Tracey xx #happydiaries

    1. I go through phases with quotes but, for the moment, I'm quite into them. :)

I love to hear from you, so please don't be shy!
