I've really been looking forward to this week's theme - female comedians - because there are just so many funny women I'd love to showcase. After much deliberation I've settled on four, in no particular order:
Katy Brand
It's not secret that one of my favourite types of comedy is the song parody, and this is something Katy Brand really excels at. I particularly love her take on Usher - Love in this Pub - and this ode to Coldplay:
Dawn French
I caught a couple of episodes of Vicar of Dibley on Gold the other day which reminded me just how great Dawn French is. She has that whole 'only (relatively) sane person in the village' vibe down to perfection.
Gracie Fields
We're going back to the days of music hall for this one, but Gracie Fields was awesome. Again, she was a master of the comedy song - my favourites are Why Did She Fall for the Leader of the Band? and the classic What Can You Give A Nudist For His Birthday?
Jo Brand
Brand got her break in stand-up as part of the alternative comedy scene of the 80s, and in recent years has been one of the only regular female guests on panel shows like QI and Have I Got News For You. I just love her deadpan delivery!

Jessica is an amazingly funny and smart blogger from Wales who writes on a whole range of topics -- from entertaining vintage nostalgia, to technology tutorials, to book reviews, to raising her adorable munchkin, and so much more! This week she's reviewing Sense Organics children's clothing.
Lisa is an awesomely hilarious and wonderfully authentic writer who marches to her own drum on her blog Syncopated Mama, providing an "un-labelly spot" for all the happily off-beat folks out there who have been wishing to find kindred spirits. She shares her adventures building a natural home, teaching her adorbs daughter, establishing and refining positive communication skills, camping, creating, cooking, and so much more! This week she is having a mid year check in with her goals.

This really made me thing about why I began blogging, and how I need to get back to the enjoyment of writing what I like, rather than worrying so much about whether something 'fits'.
Now time for the new stuff!

I love deadpan delivery, too! Fun choices, even though I've not really heard of any of them before! ;P #FridayFrivolity
