


IKEA first arrived in the UK in 1987, and in 1996 ran an ad campaign encouraging the nation to 'Chuck Out Your Chintz'. This was followed up with a campaign designed by St. Luke's, advising Brits to 'Stop Being So English'.
This spot, which first aired in 1998, had a middle class couple moving away from their mock Edwardian decor and becoming much happier as a result.
