Revealed at the 2015 New York Comic Con, Mattel's DC Super Hero Girls line was made to tie in with the webseries of the same name. The brand's popularity quickly lead to multiple waves of 12 inch dolls, plus a six inch action figure line, as well as an 18 inch range and a series of toddler dolls produced under licence by Jakks Pacific.

In 2019 a new DC Super Hero Girls TV show began on Cartoon Network. The dolls were redesigned to match the new animation style.
