Spread the Love Playlist

Spread the Love Playlist

One or more of these has provided the backing track to just about every piece of romantic fiction I've ever written...

Saying I Love You - The Moffatts. (1998) Let's get this party started!

Saying I love you, it's the hardest thing to do,
And if I ever do, I'll always be true.
I may not be the best looking guy you ever knew,
But I can show you love that will always be true.

What Can I Do? - The Corrs. (1998) Because why won't the love interest just love them back??

There's only so much I can take,
And I just got to let it go,
And who knows I might feel better, yeah,
If I don't try and I don't hope.

Why? - Bronski Beat. (1984) ~Forbidden Love~ (Or, for when it's complicated but still fluffy, try The Communards' There's More To Love Than Boy Meets Girl.)

Name me an illness; Call me a sin,
Never feel guilty; Never give in,
Tell me why?
You and me together, fighting for our love.

Hand of Blood - Bullet For My Valentine. (2009) Pining needn't always be soppy and sentimental! To be fair, all BFMV tracks are good for writing angsty, angry romance.

I saw you look away.
Is what you've seen too much to take, or are you blind and seeing nothing?
I saw you run away.
Is what you've seen too much to take, or are you scared of being nothing?

Stupify - Disturbed. (2009) For when the star crossed lovers just can't suffer enough. Disturbed are my go to background noise for anything less than sparkles and bunnies.

Why do you like playing around with my narrow scope of reality?
I can feel it all start slipping away, see but I don't get it,
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit?
Do you think it can take control when I don't let it?

Shake It - Metro Station. (2008) Hooking up!

Tonight you're falling in love,
Let me go now.
This feeling's tearing me up,
Here we go now!

Misery Business - Paramore. (2007) Sometimes you gotta fight for your man!

I waited eight long months, she finally set him free,
I told him I couldn't lie, he was the only one for me,
Two weeks we caught on fire, she's got it out for me,
But I wear the biggest smile!

The Spell - Alphabeat. (2009) This is the track for when everything is going well - love is great, love is fun, and all you want to write about is fluffy happiness.

You put a spell on me - I don't know what to do,
It's an ability that drives me closer to you,
Your magic has got me where I want to be,
Your magic is happening in front of me.

Preocupat cu gura ta - Smiley. (2008) More from the 'being in love is so wonderful' genre.

Mulți spun că sunt golan,
Dar când ești tu lângă mine mă simt un gentleman, yes…
Mulți vor să mi te ia,
Dar cheia inimii tale e ascunsă-n inima mea.

(Many say that I am a vagabond,
But when you are near I feel like a gentleman,
Many want to take you away from me,
But the key to your heart is hidden in my own.)

Crutch - Set It Off. (2016) Oh no, things are starting to go wrong. One partner is all give, the other is all take, and it seems like it's only a matter of time before the whole thing falls apart.

You kill me every time we touch,
Baby, you use me, I'm just your crutch,
I don't know how long I can hold you up,
You got me running out of love.

Same Old Brand New You - A1. (2000) There's gotta be some boyband action in this list! This is the song for when all those promises to change prove to be worthless. Their 2001 track No More deals with similar themes and is another of my faves.

You said you changed but I'm afraid it's something I won't live to see,
It seems so strange that sometimes fate
Can appear to be so real and yet turn out to be a fantasy.

Everything You Want - Vertical Horizon. (2008) The perfect track for 'it's not you, it's me'. (For a more light hearted approach try 'My Problem' by the Dance Hall Crashers.)

He's everything you want, he's everything you need,
He's everything inside of you that you wish that you could be.
He says all of the right things at exactly the right time,
But he means nothing to you, and you don't know why.

The Seeds You Sow - Prides. (2014) It's all over and, with hindsight, one side regrets the role they played in it.

Oh, there was a time when I was caught up in you,
It was a question of time ...
All I know is that if I was to do it again,
I wouldn't believe that I was harming you.

Where Have You Been - Reel Big Fish. (2010) The ex wants to rekindle things - but they waited too long!

You called me up last night in tears and said you missed me after all these years,
Well, I’ve been waiting here so long, I’ve gotten over it since you've been gone. ...
You say you love me, love me again, but if you love me - where have you been?
You say you need me more than anyone else. Well, go to hell - where have you been?

Somebody That I Used To Know - Gotye. (2012 - I love this acapella cover!) When all is said and done, there's nothing left but indifference. For teen romances, there are similar sentiments in The Naked Brothers Band's Face in the Hall.

You can get addicted to a certain kind of sadness,
Like resignation to the end, always the end,
So when we found that we could not make sense,
Well you said that we would still be friends,
But I'll admit that I was glad that it was over.

Be Mine - Robyn. (2007) The only thing worse than it being over is when it never even happened in the first place.

It's a cool thing you'll never know all the ways I tried,
It's a hard thing faking a smile when I feel like I'm falling apart inside ...
There's a moment to seize every time that we meet,
But you always keep passing me by.
No, you never were and you never will be mine.

Simply Cook Review

I kept seeing ads and deals for Simply Cook everywhere, so as there was a special offer on at OhMyDosh! Rewards (£3 for the box and £3.50 cashback) I figured I had nothing to lose by giving it a try. What Is It? Recipe kits packed into boxes which fit through your letterbox. The usual price is £9.99 for a kit of 4, with each one serving 2-4 people depending on your serving sizes. All you need to do is buy the fresh ingredients required and follow the instructions. Here is Simply Cook's own helpful diagram: Does It Work? For me, as the person just eating it, it was awesome. Everything tasted great - the mushroom penne in particular was so good I went back for seconds - and I liked that the sauces weren't as rich as Anthony would usually make them. For Anthony, who cooked them, they weren't as impressive. He complained that the food was bland and that it was actually quite a lot of faff, as Lidl didn't stock everything we needed which meant another trip ou
