I wrote last week that I was worried about not knowing when my PIP assessment was going to be... Well, it turned out it was this Thursday! I thought I would handle it better this time around because I'd got so worked up already for the cancelled appointment. Surely my brain would be more sensible?
It was not. I got next to nothing done all week, just stressing and panicking. On the morning, just to make things worse, my phone wouldn't work properly and Anthony had to ring the DWP to give them his number instead. To be fair, the lady doing the assessment was really kind but it was just so horrible. It's times like that which makes you realise how ill you actually are; normally I would do my best to evade anything 'official' or anxiety inducing so can kid myself I'm not so bad.
Then you break down over a phone call and realise you have further to go than you hoped...
Anyway, in stress mode I read a ton of stuff about ballooning and early aviation. Why? I don't really know. It caught my attention and I latched onto it! I've written a post on Bill Frost, a Saundersfoot carpenter who allegedly flew a kind of hybrid airship in 1896 for next Wednesday. It was also useful for my slow progress on the 'scareship' UFO flap of 1909. Whatever Lethbridge saw, it certainly wasn't German.
On the blog this week I posted a guide to Fan Magazine, posts about T. Crofton Croker and Edmund Jones, and referral codes for Athletics Motion USA and Fanjoy.
The only crafting I managed was a few simple pairs of earrings - find them over on my ebay.
I've been watching a bunch of old movies on Cult Classic Cinema on YouTube, plus a few true crime documentaries at my mum's this weekend - the Steeltown Murders, and Body on the Beach about the very weird case of Annie Börjesson. It made me think of Somerton Man for some reason; I suppose it's just the mystery and the suggestion of secret services involvement.
