What's in my Handbag?

What's in my Handbag?

What's in my handbag? posts are such a classic, and I love them for the way they offer a peek into other people's lives and personalities. Pretty notebooks, fancy make-up, trendy sunglasses... Let me say right now that you ain't gonna be seeing any of that in my handbag. My bag is like a vortex, sucking in all manner of junk which festers in there for weeks until I get around to giving it a proper clean out.

This is what the accumulated contents of my handbag looked like this evening... The bag itself is a Luca Bocelli laptop bag, and was a birthday present from Anthony's family. It can fit so much in it, which is my number one concern these days.

handbag items

Here we see Marianna making her presence felt - we've got a couple of Moony nappies, nappy bags, wetwipes, and a cute little pair of shoes. We lost one of them on Monday, so I unwittingly carried around the other until I found its partner in the council chamber on Thursday. Talking of work, you can see my swipe card and lanyard, along with such essentials as a hairbrush, bobby pins, gumy earphones, and my iPod which is covered in stickers to please my inner eight year old. The purse is Ted Baker and was another birthday present, this time from my lovely friend Louise.

pens and notes

Next up, piles of agendas, notes, receipts and bus tickets. My pen collection is looking pretty healthy - the Staedtler fountain pen on the end is my favourite, it's designed to look like the iconic pencil. The owl necklace is something I picked up in Poundland earlier this week, and although it looks like I'm opening my own chemist, those blister packs - ibuprofen, sertraline, and ranitidine - are mostly empty.

make up and diaries

My beloved diaries, appointment book, and my passport because I need ID and don't drive. Underneath that lot is a copy of the Metro, and the first glossy magazine (Cosmopolitan) I've bought in about a year because it was on offer for £1. There are also some hair ties, old receipts and the remains of a remembrance poppy. Then, we have Soap and Glory 'Thick & Fast' mascara, Miss Sporty lipliner, Nivea lip balm, Rimmel liquid and pencil eyeliners, Makeup-Revolution lipstick in Crime, and red lipstick which has long since lost all its identifying features. Finally, my house keys and a little welsh dragon dressed in a welsh lady costume keyring.

It's been pared back now, but I'm sure in a couple of weeks time it will be just as bad! So, the question is, what's in your handbag? :)

  2. I carry a large bag also. For me it's a black hole. I find my wallet is a catch all too. Moms always are asked for something from our bag and chances are we have it. Lol

  8. I love this post! Mine is always full of little toys to keep my toddler busy while we're at his older siblings' school functions. I'm always sorry when I clean it out because then I don't have his favorites!

    1. I'm lucky at the moment in that Marianna only ever wants my stuff anyway - normally she gets a page from an old agenda to rip to pieces! :)

  9. My handbag is such a mish mash of junk, and I read these posts and everyone has the essentials and no junk. I'm so glad to see someone else who's bag's contents resemble my own! I love the little dragon :) #UKBloggerClub

    1. Hehe, I know, sometimes it seems like everyone else's idea of junk is a couple of recent receipts or something... mine is just a total mess. ;)

  10. Oh I do love "What's in my handbag" posts too. Chuckled when I saw what's in yours. Reminded me so much of what it was like to have a little one. My daughter is now 5, but I still bring an extra pair of knickers for her and if someone looked through the contents of my bag, they'll probably laugh when they see a pair of little girl's knickers ;) #BloggerClubUK

  12. Wow, what a collection of things! To be honest, its probably not that different from most of us mums. You just seem to accumulate lots of bits and pieces when you have a little one. I can pretty much guarantee at any one time that Ill be carying around some sparkly hair bits for my little one and probably a toy for good measure without even realising it ;-) Thanks for linking up to #MarvMondays. 14. Wow you really have lots of things in your bag. I also like to carry lots of things. I hate when I'm out and about and suddenly I need something and I don't have it! So I always carry lots of things just in case. What I tend to do is have lots of smalller bags so I can organise my bag better inside. I love these posts. I did last a what is in changing but I would love to do on like this. Thanks for the inspiration. ;-) xx #anythinggoes
