This year has flown by, and my little blog has gone from a blank white page to an online hub of my life. I've learned so much, interacted with so many great people, and have just really enjoyed the challenge of putting out a new post (almost) every day.

Five Things I've Learned
✫ The blog as online diary is far from dead. I love looking back at my weekly round up posts.
✫ Content is King and all that, but publicity is life blood. You need to get yourself out there!
✫ The awesome stats building power of the giveaway.
✫ I really really love doing blog memes and challenges.
✫ How to make a blog media kit.

My Top Five Posts
✫ 9 to 5: Guide to Barbie's Careers.
✫ Midnight Tragedy: The Murder of "Poor Kitty" Ronan.
✫ The Willful Murder of Eliza Roberts.
✫ Titanic Switch Conspiracy.
✫ Dolls Without Hair.
These are my personal favourites from the last year. They all took lots of hard work and research, so that probably accounts for why I'm so fond of them. :)

My Five Most Read Posts (excluding giveaways)
✫ eBay Tips - how to block annoying users.
✫ #hearthomebettaliving - my approach to interior design.
✫ 10 Tips for Tackling Christmas on a Shoestring.
✫ My Mobile Phone History.
✫ 'Fat' Playscale Dolls.
As you can see, there's not much crossover between the two categories! I'm particularly impressed with the eBay one as I didn't even promote it in any way.

You've certainly been busy this year, and it so good to know that your blog has developed into something you can really enjoy looking back on and being a part of. And you're right - we do need to have good content but if you're not getting yourself out there, then there really is nothing for it :/
ReplyDeleteTotally - if people don't know your blog exists, you can't expect them to read it.
DeleteJust starting out and I keep finding great blogs! Just bookmarked some of your posts for reading later...OK all of them!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! :)
DeleteLooks like you have had a busy year blogging x
ReplyDeleteYep, it's been pretty packed! :)
DeleteWow, you've achieved a lot in a year! There's always more to do, see and learn in blog-land isn't there?! #pocolo x
ReplyDeleteThere really is! Just when you think you have it sussed, you discover some new thing. :)
DeleteLooks like you kept busy this year! I love the pic of your babe in the present. :) Such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteThanks - she made a great present! :)
DeleteSounds like a great year hun! I have learned so much from blogging too - and I'm sure we will continue to learn as we go along. Here's to a great 2016! x
ReplyDeleteThanks - and you! I feel like I'm learning something new every week, it's fab.
DeleteWow you've had a busy year! one of my goals next year is a giveaway so Its good to know you have seen positive results. I haven't heard of some of the linkies though so that was super helpful! Well done on all your achievements this year and hope you have an even better 2016 Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again in the New Year xx
ReplyDeleteThank you! And I'm sure I'll be back :) The giveaways have really been a big help in 'getting off the starting block' as it were with some of the social media I don't use as much x
DeleteA busy year and a post a day, wow, I only manage 3 or 4 a week. Well done and a lovely look back over the year #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteThank you :) Hopefully I can keep it up next year!
DeleteI only started my blog this year and like you I feel things have progressed well and I can't wait to see what next year brings. I've saved some of your articles to read later as I think they'll help me a lot! Great post. Xxx #KCACOLS

DeleteI've just celebrated my third blog birthday and it's been such an amazing journey, and even after three years I am still learning so much! Sounds like you've had a good year, here's to the next one :) #pocolo
ReplyDeleteI really hope I'm still keeping up with it in two years time, it's been so much fun so far!
DeleteGreat to look back over the year - you have done so much! A new post almost every day, wow! Good luck with next year and Happy Christmas :) #KCACOLS
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was my New Year's Resolution to post every day so I almost made it - it's been tough but good fun.
DeleteWhat an amazing year! Congratulations! Is that a Pippa?!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D That one's a Licca doll but I do have a few Pippas! My mum sells vintage UK dolls like Pippa and Sindy on eBay so some of them are always finding their way into my collection...
Deleteso true-growth requires putting yourself out there.
ReplyDeleteIt really does!
DeleteWhat a lovely round up post. You sound like you have had a great year. Thanks for linking up to #TheList x
ReplyDeleteThank you, I really have had so much fun with it. :)
DeleteYou've done so well for a year of blogging! I love how blogs can be so much to so many, and also love that you are still keeping track of actual life as an online diary, I plan to do that a lot more this coming year too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up :)
Thank you! :) I just love how it gives me an outlet for so many different interests, and it's really surprising how many people I know 'in real life', as it were, say they read it too when I bump into them. x
DeleteI think it's important to use a blog as an online diary too, otherwise you can sometimes get lost in potentially posting what other people want to read rather than what you want to write. Well, that's how I feel anyway. I feel a little stalk of your blog coming on as there's lots of posts I now want to read :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this - you can end up feeling so restricted to certain subjects, which often don't include the ones you actually started blogging to write about. x
