Another entry in my mini music challenge, here are my top ten hits of 1975...
All Around My Hat - Steeleye Span
Steeleye Span were like my first introduction to folk music with this song, and for that I will always love them dearly. It also gave the world Jed Thomas of The Fast Show's infamous All Around My A*** version which, as a 90s kid, was just about the funniest thing I had ever heard. :)
SOS - ABBA
Would it even be a 70s hitlist without an ABBA track? It's really hard for me to pick favourites when it comes to ABBA because I love like 99.99% of their back catalogue. SOS is one of their very best though.
Blanket on the Ground - Billie Jo Spears
A country classic. <3 Billie Jo Spears scored a #6 UK hit with this one in 1975.
Rhinestone Cowboy - Glen Campbell
I know it's cheesy, but I love it anyway!
Jive Talkin' - Bee Gees
The band's so called comeback song, it also went on to feature on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack.
Imagine - John Lennon
Imagine was recorded for the 1971 album and reached #6 when it was released as a UK single in 1975.
Bye, Bye, Baby (Baby Goodbye) - Bay City Rollers
Definitely one of their better tracks, probably because it was originally a 1965 hit for The Four Seasons...
Stand By Your Man - Tammy Wynette
Originally released in 1968, it only charted for the first time in the UK in 1975 when it peaked at #1.
No Woman, No Cry - Bob Marley and the Wailers
Until I looked the song up on Wikipedia for this blog post I thought this song was about life being easier without relationship problems. But apparently it's actually Jamaican patois for 'woman, don't cry'. Every day's a school day, huh!?
You Sexy Thing - Hot Chocolate
How can you not love it?
