The British Tag

The British Tag

I read bubbablueandme's answers to this tag and had to give it a go myself! It's a 12 question challenge which will show just how British you are...

1. How many cups of tea do you have a day? How many sugars?

I generally drink one or two cups of tea a day, with milk and two sugars. I buy Aldi's English Breakfast teabags and they suit me fine - I hate fruit teas and other 'twists' on the tea concept.

2. Favourite part of your roast?

The yorkshire pudding, though it's probably not like any yorkshire pudding you've ever eaten. My nan used to make it more like a heavy sponge cake, and my mum now does the same to please my brother and I. Anthony has the frozen ones on his dinner because he doesn't understand the attraction.

3. Favourite dunking biscuit?

Digestive biscuits. Yum.

4. Favourite quintessentially British pastime?

Complaining. Not in a way that would make a difference to anything, obviously, that wouldn't be British at all! Just comments about the weather, the length of the queue, and so forth.

5. Favourite word?

Ych-y-fi! Literally means 'it disgusts me', but you use it the same way you would 'icky'. Like: don't eat the dubious looking sweet on the floor, that's ych-y-fi!

6. Cockney Rhyming Slang?

Only when I'm Brahms and Liszt.

7. Favourite Sweet?

Pink and white jelly milkshake bottles.

8. What would your pub be called?

Something ghoulish, like 'The Hangman's Noose'.

9. No.1 British Person?

David Jason.

10. Favourite Shop / Restaurant?

Tiger. Which is Danish.

11. What British song pops into your head?

America by Razorlight. The lines 'All my life, watchin' America. All my life, there's panic in America.' kind of sum up where Britain is today - we like to think we're still in the big league, but really we're just in the shadow of our wayward child, waiting and watching to see what they'll do next...

12. Marmite?

Yuck! I do love the advertising campaigns though.

  1. Well, I thought I was quite the Anglophile, but you left me scratching my head with half of these... :D

    1. Don't worry - I had to google Brahms and Liszt to make sure the spelling was right! x

I love to hear from you, so please don't be shy!
